Feel The Feels

Feel The Feels Then Come Up With A Plan

A journey of discovery involves varying steps and often involve engaging some emotions we may not expect. Regret and anger. Discovery does not show favoritism so in the steps of figuring out how we got here and where we are going, we may find ourselves regretting some of our choices. It’s possible and dare I say even likely, we regret many of those choices as they put us in a not-so-perfect position to be harmed by others. Anger carries a similar load. Have you ever been angry at yourself for, not only giving permission, but for helping to place yourself in the direct path of many circumstances which emboldened the mindsets that have come to make a home in your heart and mind.

The existence of these emotions is not a fail. However, not letting these emotions take the driver seat is crucial. Instead this should be a time to lean in to the discovery process and look at it all straight on. Feel the feels and then come up with a plan to minimize the negative effects and learn to see the signs for the next round. I share this with you because it is important to note that our journey of pausing will require us to take some ownership. Believe me, if your life is anything like mine, there are plenty of villains out there who for each season appropriately were named. By now, life has taught us we don’t have control of what happens with them. It’s great to call out the tragedies for what they were and there is some healing that accompanies this exposure. Additionally, it may also save someone else from suffering the same fate. Yet, when we take ownership of our choices, we are stepping into our freedom. Growth requires tension. We are pulling off some of the layers and as we learn to not beat ourselves up for not living an unattainable perfection. We rise over the yuck!

By pausing even within the storm, the pathway to a better vantage point reveals itself. With this new perspective, you will see the beauty and power that has been there all along. With this new perspective, you will be able to identify with and operate as the brand. Your brand. You will believe again or in some cases finally believe that your contribution truly matters.
