STRENGTH SESSION

Strength Obsession

There seems to be an obsession with perceived strength. I’m talking about the extreme pursuit of “never let them see you sweat”. It’s so unrealistic because to win in this area means you never truly find your way to healing. You just walk around pretending that you never face challenges big enough to rock you.

The energy that it takes to keep up the facade could be better served with a dose of vulnerability, authenticity and humility. You and your sphere of influence will be much better off for it.

Two opposing things can be true at the same time:

You can be strong in your resolve and still have a broken heart.

You can have a deep sense of joy and be disappointed, discouraged or challenged to find the good in your day.

Your acknowledgment of the challenges does not negate strength or fortitude. Faking your way through them is pretense.

Walking through them and deciding to not let them have the last say is the winning approach. Not only do you win. So do the ones watching you, knowing that their turn may be next.
